Want to be part of the Magic Tribe! count me in...

When you think of magic what first springs to mind? I'm not talking about card tricks or pulling flowers from your sleeve (although that would be a cool party trick) and I don’t mean all the incredible tricks from Dynamo!...how he balanced those pots on the end of a chopstick that balanced on that lady's finger baffles me to today.

I do however believe in the magic we can create in our own lives and for me it all started when I picked up the book, funnily enough called “The Magic”. Have you ever read the book The secret? This was written first. I read this a couple of years ago and absorbed every word and tried to put it into practice.

I learned that you truly have to believe, in not only your spoken words but your intentions..you need to believe as if it has already..well..manifested. This is not something you can do overnight and your self belief needs to be authentic and true.

So when I picked up the magic and read the blurb, Rhonda Byrne had broken the secret down into manageable sections, she would take you on a 28 day journey revealing life changing knowledge and how to apply it to your everyday life. Wow this sounded like the book for me, and definitely the book I should read whilst in Cambodia on my very first yoga retreat. This book was staring at me. I couldn't wait, I started it a week before I had even packed my bags.

Just a few pages each day on how to bring the magic into your life and learning the biggest most powerful word of all, Thank You.

Gratitude operates through the universal law of attraction that governs your whole life. “Like attracts like”.

We've all heard sayings like, “whatever goes around comes around”, “You reap what you sow” and “You get what you give”. All those saying are describing the same law, and they are also describing the same principle of the universe that Sir Isaac Newton discovered.

The power of gratitude is not a new concept, far from it, dating back thousands and thousands of years….

Muhammad said that gratitude for the abundance you’ve received is the best insurance that the abundance will continue.

Buddha said that you have no cause for anything but gratitude and joy.

Lao Tzu said that if you rejoice in the way things are, the whole world will belong to you.

Krishna said that whatever he is offered he accepts with joy

And Jesus said thank you before every miracle he performed.

I kid you not, this book changed my life! The power of Thank you is amazing.

It helps you look at where you focus your attention. Do you focus on what you don't have and what you perhaps lack, if that's so by the law of the universe you are only going to bring into your life more of what you don't have. Let's turn that round if you focus on what you do have, you will bring more of that abundance into your life.

So by writing down each day 10 things you are thankful for you begin to see how much you already have and are grateful for… but keep going, each morning I wake up and say thank you, because today I woke up and have another day to enjoy. I say thank you for the great day I'm going to have, putting that positive intention out there, and by the time I've had a shower and my morning cup of tea (yeah..I'm so English!) I've said thank you a 100 times.

But it's not just a quick Thank you and this is where, for me the key lies. It's a heartfelt Thank you. Just like if someone gave you a gift and your so grateful you feel the warmth in your chest, you mean it and right there is where the magic begins.

Right now more than ever we should have gratitude for our health, without it we would not be here. Before I read this book I didn't think about my health every day, I kind of took it for granted if I'm honest. It's only when we feel unwell or injured/ hurt ourselves do we realise how debilitating it is, until we regain our strength and feel well once again.

How incredible are our bodies? We can heal ourselves (that resonated deeply, especially when I studied my Anatomy & Physiology..what amazing masterpieces we are!...Thank you!)

The magical power of gratitude also works hand in hand with good bodily care, nutrition and any medical assistance you might have chosen to follow.

I have written on a piece of card, as suggested in this book..

“The gift of health is keeping me alive” this sits by my kettle so I see it several times a day.

If there is one thing you can be grateful for right now and each day, it is for your health.

So as you read through this book you will cover a range of subjects from money to relationships, like me you may start to do things without thinking, for example I hear an ambulance and I say thank you for my health, I see someone grumpy across the street and I sprinkle some magic on them (ok at this point I know you're thinking i'm nuts, I do this in my mind but it's sending out positivity to help someone else in the universe after all we are all connected) My friends are used to me now and i'm sure they have started to do it too...secretly.

Wouldn't it be amazing if more people had an attitude of gratitude, that positivity spread across the word. I like the last section of the book and these words…

“The more people who discover gratitude’s magical power, the faster it will sweep the world, and cause a gratitude revolution.”

“ Say the magical words Thank You. Say them out loud, shout them from the rooftops, whisper them to yourself, say them in your mind or feel them in your heart “ take them with you and feel thankful for this present moment...that in itself is a gift.

I'll leave you with a quote today from a man who definitely believed in magic!

“Those who don't believe in magic will never find it” Roald Dahl
